OUR RATES AND GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS
We execute each project no matter how big or small with the same level of service excellence.
Although we don’t shy away from travelling further afield to help customers in need, we mainly cover
London (North, Central & East), Essex, Hertfordshire & North Kent
Working Time and Charges.
There is an initial charge, which also covers the first hour on site. This allows for either the completion of minor work, or, in respect of major work, a visual inspection of the existing installation and a record to be made of the proposed work. Subsequent working hours are charged at an hourly rate unless, following the first site visit, a fixed rate charge for the job has been agreed by both parties.
Standard working hours
8am to 6pm Monday – Friday, and 8am to 12 noon Saturday. During these hours the hourly rate is £30, and initial charge £50.
6am to 8am, and 6pm to midnight, Monday to Friday, the hourly rate is £45, and initial charge £95.
6am to 8am and then midday to midnight Saturday, the hourly rate is £45, and initial charge £95.
Out of hours charges
Apply during bank holidays, and all hours outside of periods outlined above. During these times the hourly rate is £55, initial charge is £100.
We are a VAT registered company so VAT will be added to the bill.
Jobs will be charged from the time the engineer arrives on site until the time he leaves the site.
All hourly rates exclude the cost of materials, parking fees and road/ferry tolls.
While Forty4 Electrical carries normal stock and sundry items expected of an electrician, and other non-stock items can be pre-ordered, should physical sourcing/collection of special materials/items outside of this range become necessary, this time will be charged as part of our hourly rates.
Landlord Certificates: Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) inspection and PAT (Portable Appliance Testing).

GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. Customer Requirements
Commencement of work: Every effort will be made to meet the requirements of the customer but no absolute guarantee can be given of the date of commencement or completion of work. Forty4 Electrical accepts no responsibility for any delay in the execution of work or inconvenience caused due to non-delivery or shortage of materials or other causes beyond the control of Forty4 Electrical.Fittings: Position of fittings, lighting points, switches etc if not provided for in the quotation or an associated drawing are to be determined and agreed before work is commenced and any changes required therein shall be notified by the customer to Forty4 Electrical in writing in sufficient time not to impede the progress of the work. Any extra work necessary to meet such changes will be chargeable to the customer in addition to the quoted price.Tests: Installation work will be tested during progress, and also upon completion for insulation resistance, earthing and continuity. These tests comply with the current edition of the IEE Regulations for the Electrical Equipment of Buildings. Any other tests required by the customer will be charged for as an extra to the quoted price unless such tests are definitely specified and included in the quotation
2. Making Good etc.
Although every care and attention will be taken by Forty4 Electrical whilst carrying out work on-site, we do not accept responsibility, or remain liable, for damage to plaster work, decorations, wallpaper, carpets, flooring or any other on-site structural feature. Inspection and access holes, the cutting of wiring channels, drilling and other works made to accommodate installations will be made good to the best of our ability, but we are not carpenters, plasters, carpet layers etc. Customers should be aware of this and make their own arrangements to return the property to a permanently finished and decorated state.
The customer shall be responsible for securing any necessary consents, easements or wayleaves, and for any reinstatements of disturbed ground in the case of extensions to underground distributing lines, which are within the customers own property or on privately owned property over which the customer has rights, access or a tenancy.
Any license, permit or other authority necessary for any execution of the work shall be obtained by the customer.
Delivering good customer service is a core business value. Much of our work comes from word of mouth recommendations and protecting our reputation depends on us delivering against our promise.
Guarantees on electrical work
- We provide a full 12 month guarantee on all our work
- All materials and products are covered by full manufacturers’ warranties
- We will take up any complaint relating to materials or products with the manufacturer on your behalf
- Any defect arising from faulty installation or repair work, within the 12 month guarantee period, will be treated as a priority and will be put right at no extra cost to you.
For your peace of mind, we are able to offer additional guarantees through our alliances with the NIC-EIC
Our work is inspected annually by NICEIC to maintain our Part P Approved Contractor status. Additional Part P Warranty Insurance is available to domestic customers through NICEIC. For details and costs, please speak to our electrician. The warranty must be taken out within 60-days of the completion date of the work.
6. Terms of Payment
Instructions for work in any property shall be made only by those legally entitled to instruct work to be carried out on the property in question, and the same party shall be liable for all charges. Third party instructions must be accompanied by full written authority from the legal owner of the property, and the legal owner must provide a copy of his/her i.d.[such as driving licence or passport] and two recent utility bills featuring the home/registered address of person/charity/company owning the property.Payment for work where the total value is less than £500 shall be subject to invoice after completion of the work. Payment for jobs where the total value of the work is between £500 and £2500 shall be by three stages, unless alternative arrangements are agreed in writing beforehand. The first payment shall be made prior to commencement of the work and shall consist of 30% of the value of the job. The second payment [40%] shall be made by the customer when the work is at the half way stage, with the balance to be paid when the work is completed. Payment shall become due on demand unless otherwise agreed. Failure to pay will incur an interest charge of 2% per month until full payment is received.
For larger contracts, an agreed series of progress payments will be negotiated.
7. Extra Cost
In the event of expenses arising due to suspension or cancellation of work at the request of the customer, or lack of access, instruction or other on-site delay caused by matters beyond the control of Forty4 Electrical, such expenses thereby incurred shall, at the discretion of Forty4 Electrical, be chargeable to the customer.
ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGE POINT INSTALLATION - GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Our Standard EV Terms and Conditions
Forty4 Electrical are approved OLEV electric vehicle installers and approved NICEIC electrical contractors and Installers. Our engineers are also City & Guild Level 3 qualified.
All appointments are made within a 2-hour time slot to allow the engineer time and flexibility to arrive at the installation address safely and on time. All installations are unique, and some can take longer than others however in general, most installations take between 3-4 hours to complete. Upon the arrival of our engineer, access to the property’s consumer unit must be free and clear to work as with the agreed cable run for your new EV charging point circuit.
All estimates given are for a standard installation and our standard installation is as followed:
The fitting of your new electrical vehicle charging point is to be mounted on a brick or plaster wall, or to another suitable permanent structure
Up to 15 meters of 6mm twin and earth/Hi Tuff or SWA cable, run and neatly clipped direct to the wall between the distribution board or electricity supply meter.
The routing of the cable through a drilled hole in a wall up to 500mm (20 inches) thick, where needed.
The installation of a 2-way fire rated 18th edition consumer unit complete with an Type A RCD and a Type C 32A miniature circuit breaker or for modern high integrity fuse-board, a Type C 32A RCBO will be installed. Any RCBO’s installed will match the existing fuse-board branding.
Up to five meters of white plastic trunking or conduit to conceal interior wiring.
To be carried out by one installer in compliance with the NICEIC, BS 7671:2018 and IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation.
Upon completion of the installation, an NICEIC Electrical Installation Certificate will be issued.
The owner/customer or a responsible adult of the age of 18 years or over needs to be present on-site for the entire duration of the install
What’s not included in the standard installation:
The EV charger must be in your designated off-street parking area and be fixed at a height where it can’t be hit by a vehicle.
We can’t fix the cable higher than 2.1 metres (6 feet 9”) above the ground. If fixing higher than this is unavoidable then the installation may need to be paused – in that case, we will quote for any extra work needed.
As part of the standard package, additional works like digging a trench, installing a cable duct or suspend it above ground is not included. For bespoke works such as cable runs in the garden or under a path, please make these request at the initial quotation process.
When you are using your charger the EV charging lead must remain on your property and must not create a trip hazard for you or anyone else.
Our standard installation does not include cable runs under floorboards or through ducting / ceiling voids / wall voids. We can’t take responsibility for reinstating flooring or other building materials after the cable has been laid.
Our electrical engineers are not able to work in unsafe areas such as crawl spaces, on roofs or in lofts.
All our installations are subject to extreme weather (i.e. flooding or intense rain). In these conditions, if it is not safe for the electrician to carry on, our EV charging installers will do as much as they can, and we will return at a later date.
For all other installations such as a free-standing mount or for an installation outside of the scope of a ‘standard installation’, costs are subject to change and additional costs may be applied.
The 18th edition wiring regulations and BS7671:
All our EV charging point installations are in accordance with the 18th edition wiring regulations and BS7671.
Forty4 Electrical are unable to proceed with the installation if your installation does not meet the standard of these regulations. In these cases, the installation is paused and Forty4 Electrical will provide a quotation for further works to meet the required standard.
Rescheduling and Timings:
All appointments that are rescheduled are authorised by our administration office and not by the field engineer.
All new bookings, appointments for additional works including quotations or cancellations are processed by our administration office and by the field engineer.
All appointments are allocated with a minimum 2-hour time slot, if the initial and planned EV charging point installation can not be completed as additional works are required, there is the possibility these works can be undertaken during the initial appointment however such works are at the discretion of Foty4 Electrical.
